Ryo Fujimori
né en 1986 à Nagano, JP

Biography
Ryo Fujimori cuts woodblocks. He carves his own cherry blocks, inks with a brush and prints with a baren on washi paper made for him by a mill in Fukui. One print calls for eight to fifteen blocks, layered until the colour stops being laid down and becomes atmosphere. The subjects take up little room: a rain, a wind, a low river. Trained at the art school in Kanazawa, he prints editions of fifteen or twenty, together with two or three artist’s proofs, and destroys the blocks once the edition is complete. He has shown with the gallery since 2021.
